"layer it, just a little bit..." (or a lot)

It seems like the layered necklaces are here to stay. Not that I would stop wearing them regardless. One of the best parts of layered necklaces...they can be worn all year long. Depending on the type of shirt, the necklaces help accentuate a different look. They can turn basic pieces into a livelier look. For instance, if your work environment involves you wearing basic solid colors, throwing on a layered necklace can give you that little "edge" without going overboard.

If you want a classier look, you should stick to simple delicate chains of the same material. (Hint: You could always purchase yards of silver/gold chain and just wrap them as many times as you want around your neck) Or you could bling out with more bold and chunky pieces. Mix and match if you dare. Pair a simple layered chain with a gemstone/bead layered necklace. Find a bunch of different sized pendant necklaces and layer up on those. Some advice though, when wearing all these layers, be careful that you don't close your necklace in a drawer or get hooked onto a kid. (Not that these have happened to me)

sprawled all over my dresser:

This was the ultimate find. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. It totally satisfies my cross and layered obsession. I loved how different each of the crosses were, from simple to more ornate. It was actually the last one in the store. The price range was definitely not the amount I would normally ever spend but when you shop with other girls, they tend to help you give into indulgences. Only after I bought it back home, did I realize that it was manufactured wrong, the chains were attached tangled so no matter how hard I tried to detangle it, it would be useless. Luckily, with some help (holding the chains up for me), I was able to attach them the right way. On a fun note, I actually won some money off a scratchy so the necklace is now paid for!

cutesy dresses

This is such a girly piece but it's nice to have at least one in my closet. I love the pastels, the tie on's, and especially the ruffles. What's even better is that it looks so cute over jeans as well. You know I'm all about being able to use a piece for more than one outfit. Oh yeah, according to someone, if I put on a hanky in my hair with this dress, I could be one of those girls working inside the Asian bakery.

I actually had to go all over the place for this dress until I found a store that even carried it or in a decent size. I love the brown and the belted look. It's fairly simplistic yet it's just one of those "ahhh" pieces. It gives me such a brunch or tea party vibe. I think what really caught my eye was the "rounded" detailing, the buttons and the collar. For me, I think I wouldn't have been so persistent with this piece if the collar had been pointed.

shirt dresses

I love the long shirt & shirt dress look. It's funny because I had started with the longer shirts over a year ago, but at the time, they weren't everywhere. What's even better is now you don't have to just stick with wearing jeans with them, most of these shirts can worn as a dress when you pair them with tights. If you think about it, with one shirt, you have two outfits already! Not to mention, you'll be able to have a spring, summer, & winter piece.

These hoodie ones are my newer pieces. I actually got an awesome deal on them, it was buy 1 get one free. So I have the long sleeved hoodie in a gray color as well. They have a very casual and playful look to them.

These 2 are more of the bohemian vibe shirts. Plus, the one on the left has wooden accessories which seem to be in as well. It's nice to be able to wear these are dresses now too.

Just you wait, we'll probably start to see more of the shirts plastered with graphics. You can see that in Japan, the dress shirts have a cuter edge to them. I'm thinking that we'll get more punk graphics, especially since there's a huge selection of just tees like that now.

This is definitely one of my favorites. I really like the belted/tie on look to dress shirts. I had wanted this one before the huge trend with dress shirts but at the time when I tried it on, someone made a little crack so I just didn't go with it. It's funny actually, but I ended up picking this one up in the Guess in Puerto Rico. I saw it again and I knew it was fate. Looking back on it, why would I even consider the comments of boys with my style anyways? I've never cared and always have had this attitude of wearing what I liked and wanted. My motto for everyone is as long as you love it and are comfortable in it, then just go for it. Being comfortable and confident is all part of having style as well.
